Short company description:
Genuines Coaching & Consulting is a leadership development company helping high-performing leaders and organizations close the gap between what they say matters and how they actually lead. Through keynote speaking, executive coaching, interactive workshops, and our Genuine Leaders Reset experiences, we help leaders gain clarity, strengthen accountability, and turn intention into meaningful action. Our message is simple: Stop Drifting. Choose Alignment.
What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in your business?
One of my biggest challenges was transitioning from a structured military career into entrepreneurship. In the Navy, the mission, systems, and resources were already established. As a business owner, I had to build those from the ground up while learning marketing, sales, and business development. It taught me to embrace uncertainty, stay resilient, and take intentional action even when I didn’t have everything figured out.
How did you get started in your field of work?
My journey started in the U.S. Navy, where I was leading, mentoring, and developing Sailors. I discovered that what I enjoyed most wasn’t just accomplishing the mission, but helping people grow and recognize their potential. After retiring, I wanted to continue that mission beyond the uniform. I pursued leadership coaching and training certifications and founded Genuines Coaching & Consulting to help leaders and organizations grow with intention and purpose.
What was the most impactful moment of your transition out of the military?
The most impactful moment was realizing that after 21 years in the Navy, I was no longer defined by my rank, title, or uniform. I had to ask myself, “Who am I without the uniform, and what’s my next mission?” I realized my purpose didn’t retire when I did. My mission simply changed. I still wanted to develop people, build leaders, and make an impact, but now I had the opportunity to do it on my own terms.
How do you define success?
Success is living in alignment with what matters most. It’s not just about titles, income, or accomplishments, but who you’re becoming, the relationships you’re building, and the impact you’re making. True success is being intentional with your purpose, priorities, and actions.
