Welcome back to another episode of Real Estate Champions. I’m your host, Sarah Olson, and joining me today is Pam McQuaig with First Coast Community Credit Union. Welcome to the show, Pam. How are you?
Speaker 2
How are you?
Speaker 1
I’m doing great. Thank you for having me. Yeah. You are a loan manager? Yes. With First Coast Community Credit Union. Tell me a little bit about your role.
Speaker 2
So originally I ventured over, out of mortgage into consumer financing a couple of years ago at the credit union. And we do personal loans, RV loans, HELOCs, motorcycles, all, all types of different types of consumer financing. And on December 1st, we merged with Radiant Credit Union. Okay. So right now we both have our individual names.
Speaker 2
That’s probably an 18 month process to get it all merged together. And we’re really excited because we originally were a credit union that was established for the Georgia-Pacific folks. It was right next to the mill. And they’ve moved a couple times and changed names, but they’ve been around for a very long time, and they’ve ventured out to find a new credit union to merge with so we could offer more to our members.
Speaker 2
And so now we’re going to be, I think maybe 12 or 13 branches. Oh wow. From three. Twenty-two counties will be able to support. We’re going to offer land loans, construction perm loans, first mortgages.
Speaker 1
Those are hard to come by, especially land loans.
Speaker 2
Business loans. I mean, the total gamut. So we’re really excited about that, to be able to offer our local members the things we weren’t able to offer them.
Speaker 1
Sounds like you guys are financing fun to me. Yes. Like I hear motorcycles, boats, RVs, all those things. So those are fun things for Floridians.
Speaker 2
Yes, they are. Great. Lots of boat loans. Our location is in Palatka, and there’s a lot of guys out there that, you know, do it for a living.
Speaker 1
Okay.
Speaker 2
Yeah, we do a lot of boat loans in that area.
Speaker 1
So 22 branches all up on the East Coast or—
Speaker 2
They originally, Radiant is out of Gainesville.
Speaker 1
Okay.
Speaker 2
So we’re talking Lake City to Gainesville. And then, like I said, Palatka, Crescent City, and Saint Augustine is our original branches. Okay. And so they’re kind of going that way. They don’t want to be in big cities. They’re more of a hometown kind of credit union, which we love because, you know, that’s how we treat our members.
Speaker 2
Yeah, so we kind of fit together very well and we’re real excited about it.
Speaker 1
Okay. So tell me some things that consumers should be aware of when they’re coming to see you for a loan. I’m really interested in the land. For land. Like, what should they be aware of?
Speaker 2
Well, unfortunately, because that’s something that Radiant is offering that we aren’t offering, I can’t speak—
Speaker 1
Oh, okay. Sorry.
Speaker 2
That’s okay. That’s okay. You know, look on our website, look up the rates, and so forth. And if you are interested, definitely apply. But yeah, I can’t really speak to a whole lot of detail there because with just having the merger taking place in December, we’re not there yet to where we know all the criteria.
Speaker 1
Will your role stay the same as loan manager?
Speaker 2
Yes. Okay. Yes. And we’ve been told we’ll be sort of a satellite type in Gainesville, in our area. And, you know, I’m sure things can change in the future, but right now we’re keeping it all the same.
Speaker 1
That’s fantastic. And where is your office specifically?
Speaker 2
In Palatka, Florida.
Speaker 1
In Palatka. Oh. Thank you for coming all the way up here. Yes, yes. I love Palatka. How are things going down there? Expanding?
Speaker 2
It is. I’m from Middleburg, and I guess it’s bigger than Middleburg. So yeah, they’re definitely expanding and building new things there. I don’t think the housing market’s caught up in Palatka like it has everywhere else, but I’m sure it’ll be there eventually because it’s definitely where I live. But yeah, it’s still very small town feel.
Speaker 2
And that’s how we try to treat our customers or members as well and give them that kind of service. They really love that.
Speaker 1
Loyal. Yes. It’s so nice to know, like in a big city and when everything is going crazy, that there’s actually a human touch in a business world. Yes. That is fantastic.
Speaker 2
Yes, very much. And that’s what makes them loyal to us as far as our competitors and things like that.
Speaker 1
Yeah. Is there anything else you’d like to share with the audience today?
Speaker 2
No. Just look up Radiant Credit Union. Come to us and apply for loans. You know, the business side, the land side, and things like that I think are unique. Not a lot of people offer those around, so definitely come to Radiant. Look on our website, apply for loans, and give us some business.
Speaker 1
I love it. Pam, thank you so much for being on Real Estate Champions. I really appreciate it. Congrats on the new merger and still having that wonderful hometown feel.
Speaker 2
Thank you. Thank you for having me.
