Short company description:
Mission to Commission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit I founded to help service members and veterans navigate the transition from military service to civilian careers. We provide free resources, practical career guidance, and support with translating military experience into language civilian employers understand. Our work helps people recognize the value they bring, pursue opportunities that reflect their abilities, and build a fulfilling life after service.
What is one tip that you would give when it comes to marketing?
My advice is to stay curious and be willing to adapt\. In marketing, your knowledge has a short shelf life\. The market changes, your audience changes, and something that worked six months ago may need a different approach today\. You have to keep learning and be resilient enough to adjust when the results challenge your assumptions\. Experience gives you a foundation, but curiosity keeps you effective.
What is your favorite advertising campaign that you have created for a client or particiapted in?
I’d say my favorite campaigns have been the ones I’ve built on LinkedIn. It gives me the freedom to create on my own terms, try new tools, and pivot as I see what resonates with people. I enjoy that combination of creativity and agility.
The most rewarding part has been the conversations it opens up. People from different backgrounds and walks of life reach out, often with perspectives I hadn’t considered. Seeing something I’ve shared lead to a connection or an opportunity has been exciting.
The biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 5 years is?
My biggest challenge in marketing right now is figuring out how to make the best use of AI while preserving the judgment and creativity that give a brand its voice. There’s tremendous potential to automate tasks and free up time, but people still need to guide the work, question the output, and decide whether the message will resonate. As more marketers use the same tools, it becomes easier to sound like everyone else. The challenge is to use AI thoughtfully while making sure your brand has something distinctive and meaningful to say.
How did you get started in your field of work?
I came to marketing through market research. I started as an analyst and worked my way up to VP and research director leading a healthcare vertical. I spent years understanding what customers needed, where the industry was headed, and how companies could compete.
