James:
Hi and welcome to Living My Faith, where we spotlight people in the community to showcase how they’re living their faith. I’m James Fenimore, and today we have two special guests for you.

Joining me is Erin Harrigan and Paige Whitaker. Ladies, how are you?

Erin / Paige:
Hi. Thanks for having me.
Yeah.

James:
It’s such a treat to have you guys here.

Paige, I’m going to start with you. We start the show with one simple question. How are you living your faith?

Paige:
I’m living my faith honestly every day through my job.

I work for 316 Financial, which is a faith-based bank, and we tithe 10% of our profits back to faith-based ministries.

I’ve only been here for a little less than a year, so it’s quite the contrast from where I was for 17 years prior to this.

So I would say I’m living out my faith because I’m talking about Jesus and God every single day.

James:
That’s wonderful. I love a Christ-centered bank. What a cool thing.

Paige:
Different. Yeah.

James:
No doubt about it. And a great name too.

All right, Erin, you got the cheat code. You know what’s coming.

How are you living your faith?

Erin:
Living my faith, reflecting Christ in my marriage as much as I can.

My husband and I are in different places on our journey of faith, but living it out that way and then living it every day as a Christian author, speaker, and business coach to high-achieving women in business.

So through the coaching, through the writing, through my podcast, bringing Jesus to the forefront for business.

James:
That’s beautiful.

I’d like to stay with you for a second. When you say high-achieving women in business, are those like career women in executive C-suite roles, or is it really just any motivated woman?

Erin:
It’s both.

Those who may be leading an organization in a corporate or professional capacity, or those who own their own business.

They love Jesus, but they stumble a little bit when it’s time to let Him lead and not do business as usual.

James:
That’s beautiful.

I’m actually speaking at the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce about apologetics in the workplace and really living out your faith.

So my hat’s off to you for empowering those women to take their Sunday into Monday.

Paige, why don’t you tell me a little bit more about the work that you’re doing over at the bank, what you see as far as living out your faith daily there, and how it’s changed from your previous 17-year career?

Paige:
Sure.

So my path here, which was truly divine, I worked at a TV station for 17 years.

I was in advertising, selling TV commercials and internet ads.

And I found myself being very angry and impatient and unhappy.

So last year, I had a baby at 40 years old, and I decided that I needed to change and that I didn’t want to live my life this way anymore.

I prayed a lot, and the Lord led me to this position.

Now every day I am getting to use my skills in marketing, but I’m getting to talk about God and how we can make a difference and help people who are also looking to make a Kingdom impact and align their faith with their finances.

So I’m learning a lot, and it’s been scary but really, really fun.

James:
That’s incredible. I love that.

Are you guys members of the Christian Chamber of Commerce?

Paige:
Yes.

James:
I was going to say, I’m going to be at the SWC in a couple of weeks, so I’ll get to meet you in person.

What are you most excited about for the conference?

Paige:
I’m excited to meet a lot of the state chamber members because there’s going to be so many of them.

I’m just excited to network.

In past networking opportunities, you can feel the difference.

Coming from a marketing background, I’ve been to many chamber meetings where people are focused on doing business.

But with the U.S. Christian Chamber, it’s about spreading God’s Word, helping each other, and growing the Kingdom.

It’s just a different feeling. It’s wonderful to be a part of.

James:
Amazing. I can’t wait to see you there.

Erin, I know you’re also a big part of the chamber.

Can you share how living your faith in a Christ-centered marketplace differs from a typical business environment?

Erin:
So different.

I’m a member of my local chamber of commerce in Maryland, but also a member of the U.S. Christian Chamber and a founding member of the DMV Christian Chamber.

We just celebrated the launch of the Maryland Christian Chamber.

When you’re surrounded by fellow believers who lead everything with Jesus, it is a completely different view of business, of the fruit that comes from business, of our Kingdom assignments, and how business really is a ministry.

It has been a huge boost for me in my faith and connections.

I just got involved last year, and I love it.

I’m missing the conference because it’s my daughter’s bridal shower, but I know my friends will be there.

James:
Very good reason.

It sounds like when we surround ourselves with Christ-centered people, it has a powerful impact.

And that doesn’t need to happen only at church or Bible study. It can happen in the workplace.

Would you agree?

Erin / Paige:
Amen.
Exactly.

James:
It really opens your eyes.

I can’t thank you ladies enough for joining me today.

Erin, I’m sorry I won’t meet you in Orlando, but I’m sure we will connect soon.

Paige, I will see you in Orlando, and I can’t wait.

Again, all your information will be right below this video.

If anyone wants to reach out, please do.

Especially high-achieving women looking to bring Jesus into the workplace, Erin is a great place to start.

Thank you again for joining us.

For Living My Faith, I’m James Fenimore, and we can’t wait to see you next time.
