Short company description:

Jon Heymann has a professional background spanning 35 years, ranging from private ministry to public penitentiaries. He is now the President of Heymann Consulting. He recently founded and created Elevate Jacksonville and, prior to that, served as the CEO of the Jacksonville Children’s Commission, which provided $38 million in support to numerous child-serving nonprofits.

He is the author of “Wisdom-Driven Leadership” and “Agonizing Peace: Powering Through Traumatic Experiences”.

Heymann holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Florida and has completed Graduate work in Psychology and Doctoral work at the University of North Florida.
Clemson University awarded Heymann the Crystal Star Award, their top national award for his work in dropout prevention. Stanford University labeled Heymann a “Transformational Leader.”
He was born in Athens, Greece, and was a child victim of a trafficking ring at the hands of oppressive child traffickers. He was eventually adopted by an American adoption agency working in Greece and lovingly raised by the Heymanns.
He has provided coaching and consultation to businesses, Charter schools, churches, colleges, as well as keynote speeches to numerous national conventions, men’s retreats, youth conferences, and civic groups.
He believes that our greatest hour has yet to be lived, and our grandest accomplishments have yet to be achieved by those who dare to be great.

Tell me a time you failed forward and what you learned from the experience

I listened too much to the political pundants as if they were going to help me. My naivety got the best of me, and while I didn’t become totally mistrustful, I now “Trust but Verify” quite a bit more.

What are your biggest obstacles and barriers to success?

Not wanting to market myself effectively

What is the proudest moment of your leadership career?

Creating “Elevate Jacksonville” from scratch and build it to serve hundreds of students in multiple high schools.
