Short company description:

COGNOSCERE LLC is a service-disabled veteran-owned technology and intelligence firm founded in 2007. We turn unstructured information into structured, sourced intelligence that leaders can act on. Our platform, CIFaaS, runs the Contextual Intelligence Framework: a published 12-phase analytical method with explicit sourcing standards, a confidence rating on every claim, and a quality score on every brief. Alongside the platform, we deliver systems engineering, AI architecture, cybersecurity and program support to federal, defense and commercial clients.

How is AI transforming the way businesses approach customer engagement and personalization?

The honest answer is that it is transforming the volume more than the quality. McKinsey’s 2026 survey found 89% of organizations using AI and only 37% able to point to any enterprise-level profit impact. Most of that gap is personalization that is fast but not grounded. A system that knows a customer’s name and purchase history is not the same as one that understands their situation. The shift that matters is from generating more messages to making better decisions about which message is warranted. That requires context: who this customer is, what changed in their market last week, what they actually asked for. We build that context layer first, then let AI act on it. Personalization without context is just automation wearing a friendlier face.

Can you give an example of an AI-powered tool or strategy that’s made a significant impact on your work?

Our own platform is the clearest example, because we run it daily rather than just recommending it. CIFaaS takes a question and runs it through a published 12-phase analytical method, with sources attached to every claim, a confidence rating on each one, and a quality score on the finished brief. A single analysis identified $380,000 in contract risk for a client that would otherwise have gone unpriced. In another engagement, AI-driven anomaly detection and predictive monitoring cut false-positive alerts by 90% and mean time to recovery by 95%. Critical incidents dropped from nine a month to fewer than one. The common thread is not the model. It is the discipline around it: verified inputs, visible reasoning, and an audit trail someone can challenge.

What ethical considerations do you keep in mind when integrating AI into your processes?

Three, in order. First, provenance. Every claim we publish carries its source and a confidence rating. If a reader cannot check the work, we have not done the work. We also mark projections as reasoned scenarios, not facts about the future. Second, accountability. A person signs every analysis. AI accelerates the research; it does not own the judgment, and it never becomes the excuse when something is wrong. Third, governance before deployment. IBM found that among organizations breached through AI systems, 97% lacked proper AI access controls, and 63% have no AI governance policy or are still writing one. We align to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, control access to the data the models touch, and keep client information out of model training. Underneath all three is a plain rule: do not use AI to manufacture confidence you have not earned.

What excites you the most about the future potential of AI in your field?

That a ten-person company can now afford analytical capability that used to require a dedicated intelligence cell. I spent 22 years in the Navy and years inside large integrators, where that capacity existed because the budget existed. Most businesses never had it. Now the method, not the payroll, is the limiting factor. What excites me specifically is auditable analysis at speed. A sourced, graded brief in four hours changes which decisions get examined at all. Leaders stop reserving rigor for the biggest calls and start applying it to the ordinary ones, where most value is actually lost. The promise is not faster answers. It is better questions, asked earlier, by people who previously had to guess.
