Speaker 2
All right. Time once again for the horse’s mouth here at Tommy Mac’s. Of course. At my bar, we get a chance to have a seat and tell your story. What are you doing out there in the great part of northeast Florida and beyond? Brought to our good friends at Foodies Care Organization. What a great organization. Help people out.
Speaker 2
And of course, a daily news network coach Dufner share. He’s going to fit right in the middle of two gentlemen that are here to talk about their business, and we’re going to have a great time at the bar. So let’s say hello to the fellas. David Harp’s up first with IMC electrical. Hey, David, how are you? I’m doing well.
Speaker 2
Thanks. For how long? You’ve been a electrician, my friend?
Speaker 3
94, 94.
Speaker 2
Wow. I told you off the air. Electricity scares me to death. Other than light bulbs, other that, you know, I don’t. I don’t like any of that stuff that scares me. Praise God that it works like it does. Yeah. We appreciate what you do, man. That’s right, that’s right. So you, you’ve always been in it. We did.
Speaker 2
You grow up with it and you get into it back.
Speaker 3
I went to a Clay County school that had, program.
Speaker 2
Okay.
Speaker 3
You know, my my first couple years in high school, I, I took some business classes, and I think, okay, this isn’t for me. Yeah. And so I’m like, I want to go do something on my hands.
Speaker 2
Yeah. So you had shop class back? Yeah. Shop class? Yeah. You know, they don’t have a lot of shop classes in high school anymore.
Speaker 3
We still have it in all the Clay County.
Speaker 2
Do you really? That’s good man. They need to have that. Are we sure that’s part of what you do, man? What are you doing, homes? Commercial. What do we what are we wiring?
Speaker 3
Everything from, from medium voltage substations. Right. With up.
Speaker 2
You okay?
Speaker 3
Government projects. What? Healthy family apartment complexes. Okay. Large generators. The best thing. I mean, really, the thing that I enjoy the most is just making a difference in our community. Yeah. For sure. Like seeing our team grow and thrive. Yeah. And so, like, you can take a guy that’s that’s great at one thing, right? You can be very broad or you can be very specialized.
Speaker 2
Yeah. Right.
Speaker 3
Right. Electrical trade in low voltage trade has opportunities for everyone.
Speaker 2
I tell you what, kids out there that don’t want to go to college, get into the trades. You’ll find jobs, right? Yeah, right. You’re looking for many cases.
Speaker 3
It’s a better opportunity, right? You go to work immediately. Yeah. Learn something that you can use all over the world. Yeah. It’s never going to go away.
Speaker 2
No doubt. Great to have you on the show. There’s a major movement back towards the trades. Yeah for sure. Yeah. He’s not for sure. He goes I’m going to show you why. My friend doing great. Awesome. We’re almost getting to the off season. One more game away so we can officially say 25. Yeah we look forward to the next year.
Speaker 2
We do. We do what’s in anticipation and excitement. Yeah. All right. Both coordinators back. We’ll get into a little bit later. But having your lead is back. It’s like two bands back together. It should be a really good year. Consistency is what we’re looking for. And they demonstrated as the season went on. And thank God you’re coming back.
Speaker 2
Yeah no doubt about it. Thank God you’re here. Love your guy. You’re great to have. Absolutely Lewis and he’s here from River town is actually finally made it. Yes a roundabout way. But I’m glad you finally made it my friend. How are you doing? I’m doing good. Good. I saw you in Publix not too long ago. Yeah, I love going there.
Speaker 2
I’m in there all the time.
Speaker 4
Yeah, I know this guy.
Speaker 2
Yeah, yeah, I’ve gotten to know all the workers in there. It’s really a time for peace for me. I go in there with my list and I love him. I say hi to Tom by the seafood counter, others just working there and getting to know him and and all that kind of stuff. Tell us about River Tom. What do you obviously design firm and.
Speaker 4
Digital.
Speaker 2
Marketing. Okay.
Speaker 4
I design websites. I also help people to be found. Okay, Google and that sort of thing. So just,
Speaker 2
Okay. What’s the what’s this string? You can let it ring. Don’t worry about it. What’s the strategy with. And I know it it it varies Lewis, between what we’re doing but with Google. What what I mean it can’t just be have a budget here. The. Yeah. It’s just got to be something more to know. There’s without giving your special sauce away.
Speaker 4
You know what I mean? I just I don’t know if there’s really any special sauce. In fact, if you ask Google, over and over again, John Miller, who is one of the chief, spokesmen for Google, if you ask him, you know, how do we get on page one? How do we get, you know, get it on Google?
Speaker 4
Yeah. His standard answer is right, good content. Yeah. Okay. It’s about content. Okay. You know, people say, oh, I want all these pictures, all these, you know, videos. I want all these things which can help. But at the end of the day, is the actual text is the actual content okay. Yeah. It’s going to get that website found.
Speaker 4
Okay. You’ve got to be able to write the content in such a way. Not for the search engine, right, but for the people you’re trying to reach. Business are the, the people that are looking for your product or services. Right. You’ve got to be able to write the content so that, when they’re typing in that search result.
Speaker 4
Yeah. Or that search query, your site is going to come up now. Okay. Some of that has changed because of AI, right. Intelligence. Yeah. Some people say, oh, well, SEO search engine optimization is dead. No, no.
Speaker 2
It’s not dead. No, no.
Speaker 4
It’s not dead. It’s just changed a little bit. Yeah, I actually did, I, looked up. How many tackles did Tom McManus have for his career?
Speaker 2
Okay.
Speaker 4
You had 118 tackles in court according to.
Speaker 2
Yeah, I. Yeah.
Speaker 4
I comes up and says you had 100. Yeah.
Speaker 2
That was in one year right. Yeah. Right. 1996. That’s good call 96 documentary 96.
Speaker 4
That’s the best year 68 tackles. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Well that came up. And then after that, you know used to when, when you would type in something like that. Yeah. You would get a list of websites that. Yeah. Yeah. Spock Fox News and Fox Sports whatever. Now you get the I overview. Yeah. That’s what came up. Was that okay? Sure. Yeah.
Speaker 2
So would you when you’re writing. Right. For your site, would you use AI to write it? Because that’s very easy to do right now. Right. They want to write it for you almost. I have for the record, I use chat a lot, but I write my own even they get, I get ideas, I still come up with.
Speaker 4
My own way to give me ideas. Yeah, but then I take that and I, Because what will come out of AI, a lot of times it won’t sound very human sometimes. Right. And so you’ve got to write, got to make it, got to make sure.
Speaker 2
All right.
Speaker 4
And when I go with the customer, I say, okay, tell me about your business. Tell me what you do. Tell me. Yeah. You know, what is it you want to convey? How do you want to sell your product and learn what they want and then write according to that? Yeah. As to be able to reach that. The customer.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 4
Versus they’re trying.
Speaker 2
I feel like we could do a little, little something here with with David and his company and I mean like, yeah, well study a little field trip, you know, I mean, like, I’m sure you don’t handle it yourself, but who does handle your, your marketing, your internal.
Speaker 3
A little bit internal.
Speaker 2
Okay.
Speaker 3
Some of the social media stuff. Yeah. And then obviously a service.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 3
Cool. On a professional.
Speaker 2
Yeah. How much social media in your digital marketing plan. How much for you? I’m sure it depends, but yeah. What do.
Speaker 4
You think. It’s on the, on the client. But you know, we try to we try to encourage them to include they don’t have it to include social media. Yeah. Because that is another channel to which, to reach people. Yeah. And to kind of tweak that to make.
Speaker 2
Yeah. I mean.
Speaker 4
We try to build everything around the website, but their website needs to be able to go out to social media. Yep. And other, platforms. Go back into the web.
Speaker 2
Yeah. Yeah. And, and that whole working together sharing it. Right. You got to share it I got it shared your employees got to share it. If you really want to build that social media up you got to get everybody on board don’t you.
Speaker 4
Yes. And then one thing for like a local business. Yeah. It’s amazing to me how many local businesses do not use the Google business profile. Okay. That’s for local businesses. That is key to, okay. To really doing well and good and Google in Google.
Speaker 2
Okay. Absolutely.
Speaker 4
And Google’s the 800 pound gorilla.
Speaker 2
Yeah. So for small businesses, Louis who you know, the owners are focused on the creativity, the sales, all this stuff. What would you say to them out there and getting started and what to look for and right, I mean, she wanted to call Rivertown, but, you know, in general, what.
Speaker 4
Do we well, I mean, I do all for free consultation. So, okay, I would sit down with them and say, okay, here’s and look at what they’re doing and, and how they’re doing it. And then I would come up with a plan for them to do better. Cool. And if they wanted to hire me, hire me. Great. Otherwise they got to do it.
Speaker 4
If you’re going to be on the internet. Yeah. In the 21st century, you got to be on the internet.
Speaker 2
No doubt.
Speaker 4
No doubt. Either do it yourself or hire somebody to do it. If you don’t have the resources to hire a full time employee. Yep. That’s. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Well, I tell you, the digital team does a great job. They go on their stuff, they do a fantastic, fantastic job. Let’s talk checks for a minute as we wrap up. David, I’ll start with you. How did the 25 season suit you personally and maybe your business as well, with all that success, the Jaguars success?
Speaker 3
I mean, very proud of what the Jags have done this year. Yep. Right. I’m a I’m a college football fan.
Speaker 2
Okay.
Speaker 3
A lot of my office is JAG.
Speaker 2
Who’s your school Florida Florida gators okay cool.
Speaker 3
So tough season.
Speaker 2
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3
You know we travel we love football. We love the competition. Right? We love the high tech stuff. Yeah I’m very happy with the progress of the Jags.
Speaker 2
Makes everybody feel good. Oh yeah right doesn’t it. All the customers everybody. Everybody at home. Oh my gosh. Not even close. Wife likes you more than Dallas. Flags are everywhere. That’s right. It’s awesome. It is awesome. It’s going to get even better too I think I think I mean I don’t care. Look, 13 wins is hard to duplicate, but just getting to the playoffs from here on out, we’ll be happy.
Speaker 2
Without a doubt. 13 wins is very tough. Getting in the playoffs, very tough. And for them to do all that in one season, you got to be kidding. Unbelievable. Tremendous. That’s right Louis, how about you? My friend?
Speaker 4
Yeah. The Jaguars I mean, before the season started, I thought if they could get 7 or 8 wins, I’d be happy. Yeah. Well.
Speaker 2
I would be. Yeah. No. Right. Content. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4
But when they started really winning, it was like, wow, this is this is special. Yeah, yeah. And I’ve been, I’m. And Florida native. So cool. Been here all my life. And so yeah, it’s it’s a and I’m a Seminole fan. So we didn’t do much better. Yeah.
Speaker 2
