Each week on On a Mission we talk to community leaders who are out to make a positive impact in the area. Today, our host Morgan Yonge talks with Dr. Judith Abbey of On The Go Drip.

Morgan
Welcome back to another episode of On a Mission, where we highlight those who are on a mission to make an impact, both here in Jacksonville and beyond. To the ends of the Earth. I’m Morgan, and I’m joined today by Doctor Judith Abbey with On The Go Drip. Hello, friend. How are you? Very good. Good to see you.
Judith
You look absolutely wonderful and glowing.
Morgan
As do you. I’m just going to be like you. I you to you guys. So On a Mission, we’re talking more than just the IV drip therapy today. We’re talking about how great of a human you are and giving back to the community, back to the church, all the things, because you really do quite a lot.
Judith
We we are quite excited because there is, you know, I think God has, has plays a calling, you know, on my heart. But I, I say this for myself and then also for my family. We just have a big heart of mission, of service. And so there is a nonprofit that we work with called Pisgah International Development and Relief Services.
Judith
And really what we do is we bring together our partners here in Jacksonville and also in Ghana and in Haiti, and we really focus on working with underserved communities. So we’re looking at women who work with children and all in the areas of health, education, wellness, economic empowerment. And the result are like, by God’s grace, what we witness, the impact is so it’s like it’s huge.
Judith
Recently, we were able to enroll over 300 school kids in a small area in Ghana. We got all of these school children on health insurance, and that has been wonderful because they they have access to health care. It reduces absenteeism. They can actually go to school. This is not something that parents have to worry about. And so by God’s grace, we’re we’re really doing some work out in the community.
Morgan
That is incredible. And so I’ve met your father. He’s a wonderful man. He is very involved as well. So how did you guys get started and get involved with this program?
Judith
That actually. So this is all dad, because dad has been in the development practice space for over 20 years now. He has worked as far as the United Nations, the African Union, the economic, community for West African States called ECOWAS. And so he has been around all the world working with different organizations, as you know, doing social development, doing social work, human advocacy, working with these communities.
Judith
This has been his thing. And so now that God has brought him here in Jacksonville, we’re like, okay, dad, we need to go back to the drawing board. How do we leverage these experiences, this expertise you have and how do we continue to do God’s work? By by sending the message to people using these means. And so this all goes back to dad has been his thing.
Judith
And we know as a family now we get to really work closely with him. And it’s been a blessing.
Morgan
Oh it’s beautiful. Yes. And so you just went you just came back a couple weeks. Yeah.
Judith
I just came back a couple weeks from Ghana. Yeah. It was we had a great time. So we have a new project we’re working on in the Volta Region of Ghana. And we met with the Queen, who is one of the queens, and she is specifically dedicated to development work in the in the town. And so we’re working with her to implement a similar project where we’ve gone to her town and we’ve understood what the needs for that community is, most of it being teenage pregnancies, pregnancies, what she did mention to us there’s a big need for maternal child health.
Judith
And so we’re working with our partners, are trying to get some resources, get what they need so we can send these resources back, mitigate that teenage pregnancy, see exactly how we can help with the maternal child rates. Because at the end of the day, we’re all God’s children, you know, and and there’s people who God has blessed with so much resources.
Judith
And these are the people we’re working with so we can bring our relief, you know, where it’s needed. So we’re excited to be back. And and now we’re like, full steam ahead, you know. Yes.
Morgan
So what are those next steps? What is the plan of action going forward.
Judith
Right. So right now where we’re at is dad, I was in a meeting with dad just a couple days ago. And, you know, there’s a family meetings and there’s also the board meetings and there’s the strategic meetings. And so just talking about what the next steps are. And dad’s been doing a lot of groundwork to working to reach out to donors.
Judith
And he’s reaching out to the the big funds and these big people so we can have strategic meetings with them, let them know that, hey, this is what the big plan is. This is the impact we’ve had in the past, and we want to make a larger impact. This where we’re going. So, you know, together with the Queen from from whole in the Volta Region of Ghana, we know these are the big things I little one work on teenage pregnancy reduce the maternal child health.
Judith
And then there’s also aspects of economic development. So the whole team coming together, looking at all the different roles that we have to play and by God’s grace, looking forward to executing.
Morgan
Wow. Yeah. That is absolutely incredible.
Judith
It’s very fulfilling, Morgan. It is very fulfilling. And, and and the beauty of it being that you get to see the hand of God at work, you know, when, when through these things. Because Jesus calls us to, to share his love, to spread his love. And not everybody is going to be in a position where you can open Scripture with them, you know?
Judith
But then through our actions, you know, through our actions, we can bring people closer to God. And and it’s very fulfilling.
Morgan
That is so beautiful.
Judith
Yeah.
Morgan
Well, thank you so much for the great work that you are doing. What an incredible mission.
Judith
Thank you Morgan. It’s big. It is huge. It is huge. And we need all hands on deck. We need all hands on deck. All the resources. Yes, as many as we can, because it really helps move the work forward.
