Tony:
Hey, welcome to another episode of Making a Difference. My name is Tony Davis, and I’m the owner of Crust.com Leadership Development here in Northeast Florida. What my focus is, is always about making a difference through growing our leadership.
For me, leadership starts with self-leadership, and self-leadership starts with taking care of the number one thing, and that’s yourself and your wellness. Wellness isn’t just physical. It’s mental, emotional, spiritual, social, and physical.
That’s a perfect segue into today’s interview, because I’m here with Jennifer Lee from Zenjenholistic, and she is all about wellness. Jennifer, tell us a little bit about what you do and how you’re making an impact in the lives of your clients.
Jennifer:
Yeah. So my name is Jennifer Lee with Zenjenholistic, and I’m a Reiki practitioner. I really focus on embodying self-love and overall wellness.
The holistic aspect of what I do means the whole body. It’s not just taking care of your physical wellness like you mentioned. It’s taking care of every single aspect within that. Reiki is a great way to relax the mind, body, spirit, and soul, reconnect with yourself, gain clarity, and rebalance your energy.
Tony:
For those watching, and for myself included, how does Reiki do that?
Jennifer:
Reiki is an energetic healing. It’s a hands-off energetic healing that channels life force energy. It helps rebalance your energy centers, also known as chakras, and really relaxes you.
It’s kind of like listening to a meditative soundtrack. It calms you down. Or like getting a massage, even though it’s not physical. It allows your body and nervous system to calm and helps you reconnect with yourself.
Tony:
Let’s talk about mindset. How important is mindset in what you do?
Jennifer:
Mindset is number one. Reiki and self-love help us connect with ourselves. If we don’t have a good outlook on ourselves or our self-worth is low, it’s hard to move through day-to-day life.
Reiki helps calm the mind, body, and spirit and reconnect with ourselves. It also helps us find our purpose and mission through clarity. When you focus on healing, whether it’s Reiki, journaling, meditation, or another holistic practice, it helps calm your mind so you’re less reactive and more proactive.
Tony:
That aligns perfectly with self-leadership and self-love. If we don’t take care of ourselves first and understand our self-worth, we can’t be authentic leaders.
Leadership doesn’t just exist in the workplace. We lead every single day, whether we manage people or not. Mindset matters in how we view ourselves.
I talk to people every day who don’t see themselves as leaders because they don’t manage people. That’s the wrong mindset, isn’t it?
Jennifer:
Absolutely. You’re a leader of yourself.
Tony:
Exactly. If you don’t hold yourself accountable, how can you hold others accountable? The same goes for trust. If you don’t trust yourself, you may struggle to trust others.
Do you see clients struggling with those mindset issues?
Jennifer:
Yes, especially around self-compassion and self-worth. Many don’t feel confident moving forward. They’ve experienced things in life and believe they’re not worthy of a raise, love, or the promotion they want.
Once they start focusing on mindset and self-compassion and understand they are worthy, it opens doors to new opportunities. It’s truly a mindset shift.
Tony:
The six inches between our ears messes with us all the time.
Jennifer:
Absolutely.
Tony:
That’s why mindfulness in the morning is so important.
Jennifer:
Yes, and if you can add mindfulness at night with calming breathing exercises, it helps you wake up more refreshed. You may still have bad days, but they won’t happen as often.
Tony:
That’s a great point, especially for people with sleep issues. If your mind is racing, you might fall asleep exhausted, but then wake up in the middle of the night unable to fall back asleep.
Jennifer:
Exactly.
Tony:
Mindfulness at night helps put distractions aside and leads to better sleep.
Jennifer:
Even something simple like gratitude helps. Journaling one thing you’re grateful for and sitting with that moment allows you to fall asleep more peacefully.
Tony:
Journaling is so important. Our minds are always racing, and journaling helps unpack and manage everything.
Is that something you offer?
Jennifer:
Absolutely. Along with Reiki, I offer journaling, meditation, and light breathwork. Journaling is usually the first tool I introduce.
I also offer digital journals for manifesting, goal setting, and self-love. Whether it’s gratitude journaling or setting clear intentions, journaling is a powerful tool you can use anytime.
Tony:
Gratitude is humbling and freeing. And when it involves people, telling them you’re grateful makes their day and yours.
Jennifer:
Absolutely.
Tony:
This has been a great conversation. It aligns perfectly with my leadership philosophy and the work you do. Thank you so much for being here.
Jennifer:
Thank you so much for having me.
Tony:
How can people get in touch with you?
Jennifer:
You can find me on Instagram at Zen.Jen.Holistic. Jen is spelled with two N’s, very important. You can also email me at [email protected]. Everything is linked through Instagram.
Tony:
And you’re ready to help.
Jennifer:
I’m ready to help.
Tony:
