James Fenimore:
Hi and welcome to Living My Faith, where we spotlight people that are out there really living their faith. I’m your host, James Fenimore, and today we’ve got two very special guests for you.

Joining me, we have Lenee Pezzano and The Real Jason Duncan. Guys, how are you doing?

Lenee / Jason:
Good.
Doing good, James.

James Fenimore:
So blessed to have you guys joining me today. It’s such a treat.

Now I’m going to start with Lenny because we got to be man and chivalrous and all that.

So, Lenny, we start the show with one simple question. How are you living your faith?

Lenee:
Yeah, thank you.

I would say first and foremost, surrender.

So for me, that means I have to let go of perfectionism, and I need to actually trust the Lord and walk in the grace that he gives me to be able to walk out this journey with him.

I live intentionally in my faith, and so for me that means spending time with the Lord, particularly in the morning, starting my day with him, actually listening and not doing all the talking, and then obey what he tells me to do and follow the nudge.

I would say growth-oriented, so for me that means going where I’m uncomfortable going and going when I don’t feel ready to go there.

And then action-focused, so living my life according to the word, not just hearing it but doing what it says and using my gifts to serve others.

And then all of that I do through both a full-time day job as well as my calling at night, which is as an author, podcaster, and mentor to mostly career high-achieving women.

James Fenimore:
It’s beautiful.

And I love that you said at the beginning giving up that perfection, seeking perfection, because no matter what we do, we’re going to fall short, and having the grace to understand that.

All right, to the real Jason Duncan, you got the cheat code. You know what’s coming.

How are you living your faith?

Jason:
So I think it could be summed up in maybe one or two words.

I think it’s normal, and the other word would be intertwined.

And what I mean by that is that I think that so many so-called Christians do things that are so abnormal to the average person that it actually pushes people away.

So I think more of us should show that faith and living that out is just a normal part of our expression.

It is not a compartmentalization where it’s over here we do something and then here we do something different.

And that’s why the other word, intertwined, I think it’s naturally and normally intertwined into everything that I am.

I don’t present myself as a Christian business owner or a Christian coach or Christian anything.

My faith in following Christ should be a normal, intertwined part of who I am and how I show up in everything.

James Fenimore:
That’s wonderful.

You’ve probably heard me say this on other shows, I like to say take your Sunday into Monday.

We can’t compartmentalize being a follower of Christ because that’s what we are first and foremost.

So, Jason, I see in the background this beautiful setup. I’m assuming a podcast?

Jason:
Yes.

I’ve got a couple of different shows.

I have one called The Real Jason Duncan Podcast, and I’m a little over 350 episodes in, top 2.5% globally.

It’s a business podcast. We rebranded it recently and changed the format.

Now we interview people about the lies they have believed and the truths they didn’t know existed, and what happened when they discovered those truths.

So it’s a really interesting show uncovering things we’ve all experienced.

The other show I have is called Chisel and Compass, co-hosted with Dr. Justin Mosley.

We talk about the intersection of faith, business, and mindset.

We cover topics like how followers of Christ navigate real-world issues and how faith and business work together.

That one is more of a passion project.

The Real Jason Duncan Podcast comes out every Monday at 6 a.m. central time on all podcast platforms.

James Fenimore:
That’s awesome. I know our audience will get a lot out of that.

Lenny, you mentioned your podcast as well. I’d love to hear about yours.

Lenee:
Yeah, I do have a podcast called The Redeemed Perfectionist.

It’s really about discovering God’s grace in the midst of perfectionism.

So much perfectionism is centered around performance, which ties into religion and law, versus living in freedom and partnership with the Lord’s grace.

It’s really helping identify and expose the counterfeit gospel, if you will.

And I also have a book called You Will Make Mistakes: Discovering God’s Grace in the Midst of Perfectionism.

So the theme is there, and I’m happy to help where I can.

James Fenimore:
Well, I’ve got to tell you both, I’m so thrilled to have you here today.

You are living out your faith boldly for yourselves, but also for others, and that is the Great Commission.

Seeing how you do it through your podcasts and businesses is really inspiring.

I want to encourage our audience that this is what we can do.

We don’t have to hold it back to Sunday or a Bible study.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

Jason / Lenee:
Thank you.
Thank you. God bless.

James Fenimore:
For Living My Faith, I’m James Fenimore. We can’t wait to see you next time.
