James:
Hi, and welcome back to Living My Faith on FaithWorks TV. I’m James Fenimore, and we have a very special guest for you today. We’re joined by Yara Banks. Yara, how are you?

Yara:
I’m well. How are you?

James:
Very good. Thank you so much for joining us today.

Yara:
It’s my pleasure.

James:
We like to start the show with one simple question. Yara, how are you living your faith?

Yara:
Day by day, minute by minute, hour by hour.

James:
That’s my favorite answer.

Yara:
Consistent prayer. Staying consistently in the Word. Being in fellowship with other believers through Bible study. And really living out the purpose God has for me—through my work, my family, and my community.

James:
You named three huge areas there—work, family, and community—where we spend most of our lives. How do you intentionally bring your faith into each one? Start wherever you’d like.

Yara:
I’ll start with the community. This may sound cliché, but it’s real to me: What would Jesus do? Who can I help today? Who can I bless? How can I live in a way that allows the light of Jesus to shine through me?

Even if someone isn’t a believer, they may still feel comfortable approaching me, asking questions, or wanting to know more—because the fruit is visible. That’s how I live out my faith in the community. I do a lot of volunteer work and community service.

Through my business, I’ve helped start 19 different nonprofits—churches and charitable organizations—by assisting with their 501(c)(3) setup. If needed, I’ll serve on their board for a short time, train the board, and help them get established. We’ve also supported adopted schools, backpack drives, hurricane relief—just being present, available, and helpful. Getting back to that sense of village.

With family, my husband and I both serve in our church. We attend The Grove Jax, a year-and-a-half-old church plant led by Pastor Brinson. He’s also a nationally and internationally known Christian rap artist, but he always says, “We’re not here to entertain you.” What’s been powerful for me is sitting under his leadership.

At first, he honestly intimidated me. And I realized that when someone in faith intimidates you, it’s often because you either don’t know what you need to know or aren’t doing what you need to be doing. He would say, “Show me where the Bible talks about feelings.” That really helped me get my emotions in check—something we all struggle with as humans.

At home, my youngest children are homeschooled, so faith is part of our daily curriculum. We do Bible study, memorize Scripture, and serve in church every weekend. Before leaving the house, we pray and “put on the full armor of God.” We even have little bracelets to remind us.

In business, I live out my mission of building things that make people’s lives better. That can look like helping create generational wealth, building legacy, helping people provide for their families, or equipping companies and leaders with training that reduces stress and improves performance. Whatever I’m building—courses, systems, or strategies—it’s all meant to help people grow and do what they do better.

I’m also incredibly grateful that my entire team are believers. I can speak to them the same way I’m speaking to you now. When I receive direction from the Holy Spirit, I share it openly. I may be the CEO, but He’s the CEO—and He sits right next to me. When we need to pivot or make a decision, I tell them exactly what I’ve received in prayer.

James:
It sounds like the common thread in all of that is service—serving people and serving the Kingdom at the same time. How beautiful is that? You’re doing His work and their work, creating generational impact while keeping Him at the center. That’s truly commendable.

Yara:
Thank you.

James:
You mentioned being surrounded by people you can openly talk about faith with. How important is that when building a team?

Yara:
It’s absolutely essential. When I talk about generational wealth, yes, money is part of it—but it’s so much more. Scripture tells us that God will save you and your household. That’s generational wealth.

My team needs to understand why I do what I do and how it impacts them. And if their faith isn’t strong, I need to be able to pour into them—give them strength, peace, and prayer. If something is happening in their lives outside of work, we pray about it together.

I recently had a team member whose father was hospitalized with a possible stroke. We immediately prayed. Another team member had an important exam to graduate college—we prayed. God is the center of everything we do. Seeking Him first doesn’t stop in the boardroom or only happen on Sundays. It’s continuous.

James:
You get to take Sunday into the rest of your life.

Yara:
Exactly.

James:
That’s such a beautiful thing you’ve built. Before we wrap up, is there anything on your heart you’d like to share with people about living their faith?

Yara:
Don’t give up. Don’t let the world tell you that you can only share your faith at certain times or with certain people. Be bold. Be brave about who you believe in and who you belong to. Live authentically and unapologetically.

This life is temporary—we’re just passing through. When you live that way, everything else will work together according to His good purpose.

James:
Amen. If people want to connect with you or your business, where can they find you?

Yara:
You can find me on all social media platforms at Yara Banks. You can also visit our website at bnxba.com, which stands for Banks Business Advisors. We’re headquartered in Jacksonville, but we work all over the country. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to be here and talk about God.

James:
It has been such a pleasure. Thank you so much for joining us and sharing your story.
